1.  Dalis sez –

It’s almost time….you’ll be here with us at Quiet Valley Ranch in just a few days. We can’t wait and hope you feel that way too!

The lineup brings back so many favorites and as always introduces a few new to us. That’s just one of the millions of special things about coming to Kerrville.

John will fill you in on many of the details in the rest of our letter, and we will see you soon.

Love,

    Dalis

2.  15th ANNUAL KERRVILLE WINE & MUSIC FESTIVAL NEXT WEEKEND!

Close out the summer months by planning to join us for 15th Annual Kerrville Wine & Music Festival over Labor Day weekend (Sept 1 – 3, 2005).  Three, 6-hour evening concerts and Two, 2-hour afternoon concerts anchor this wonderful event which features over two dozen songwriters and the best in Texas wine.

Dalis has put together another outstanding music line-up including The Sherpas (alone and together) – Tom Prasada-Rao, Michael Lille, and Tom Kimmel.  We are welcoming Caroline Aiken, Guy Forsyth, Sara Hickman, Pierce Pettis, Stacy Earle & Mark Stuart, Claudia Nygaard, Dana Cooper, Zoe Lewis, Tim Grimm and Sahara Smith.  We are also welcoming The Lucky Tomblin Band, who were forced to cancel their set at Big Folk due to the passing of Clifford Antone.

For a complete musical line-up as well as information on wine seminars and tickets, visit www.kerrvillefolkfestival.com .

Tickets are on sale now!  Please take advantage of our advance discounts.  You can get big savings on tickets if you order prior to midnight on Thursday, Aug 31.

3.  WINE SEMINAR INFORMATION

Both wine seminars this year will be on Texas Wines & Texas Cheeses and will start at 3:30 p.m. (sharp) on Saturday, Sept 2 and Sunday, Sept 3.  Seminars will be held at the newly renovated Threadgill Theater in the Quiet Valley Ranch campgrounds.

During each of these seminars, four different Texas wineries will be selecting a particular wine to be paired with their choice of Texas cheese.  Each will also discuss their winery operations, events, and the Texas Wine industry.

Pre-paid reservations are required for each seminar at $5 per seminar per person.  Each registration includes a free souvenir festival wine glass.  You may reserve a spot in advance by selecting one of the ticket purchase options that include the wine seminars (listed on the ticket page).  You may also sign up at the wine ticket booth in the Kennedy Outdoor Theater during the evening performances.  Space is limited so sign up early.

7.  DONATE TO THE BACKSTAGE SHOWER FUND

I think we all understand how important it is to keep are volunteer staff clean and happy.  While the existing backstage shower and bathroom facilities are still "functional" they are rapidly decaying to the point where they will soon be unusable.  With your help we can raise the money needed to build a new structure that will last for another 35 years. Please give what you can!  You may make a donation on the website
(www.kerrvillefolkfestival.com/shower_fund.htm ) through secure Pay Pal transaction, or you can mail a check payable to:

Backstage Shower Fund
c/o Kerrville Folk Festival
PO Box 291466
Kerrville TX 78029

Thanks to a generous donation from Robert Orenstien, we almost have the funds available to do this project, but we still need more.

8.  WORK WEEKEND & PROJECT REPORT

Work is continuing on the Threadgill Theater reconstruction project.  Hopefully the terracing and seating will be completed prior to the Wine & Music Festival.

This is the last weekend prior to the festival so if you can come out and help us, we could sure use your help.  Most of what we will be doing will be ranch clean-up and minor construction and repair.  Bring your work clothes, gloves, yard tools, and your camping gear.

WE’LL NEED YOUR HELP!!!
