FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - - -

KERRVILLE FOLK FESTIVAL TIME IS HERE

KERRVILLE, Texas - - - It is time to put aside our yard work and head to beautiful Texas Hill Country for the 35th Annual Kerrville Folk Festival.  The festival begins, as always, on the Thursday before Memorial Day and will run for 18 consecutive days, May 25 – June 11.

This year’s celebration includes the return of Guy Clark who is scheduled to appear on Sunday, May 28, as well as Sue Foley on Monday, May 29, Dar Williams on Sunday, June 4, and The Limeliters on Saturday, June 10.

There are several special concerts slated for this anniversary year including the Music To Life songwriting contest which is sponsored by the Public Domain Foundation.  On closing night, June 11 there will be the Memorial Festival Orchestra where homage is paid to performers, family and friends that have been lost over the last 5 years.  Not your usual Kerrville musical event, the Memorial Orchestra, conducted by David Amram, will feature solo performances by Jonathan Byrd, Jimmy LaFave, Christine Albert & Chris Gage, Trout Fishing in America , and Bobby Bridger.

The site of all this musical celebration is the hospitable 50-acre Quiet Valley Ranch located nine miles south of the Texas Hill Country resort community of Kerrville on Texas Highway 16.  For 18 days and nights the ranch accommodates thousands of concert goers and overnight campers from every state in the U.S. plus avid fans from a dozen countries overseas.

Additional highlights of this year’s evening concerts include appearances by the Asylum Street Spankers, Terri Hendrix, Slaid Cleaves, The Resentments, Vance Gilbert, Ruthie Foster, Susan Gibson, Peter Yarrow and Noel Paul Stookey, The Lucky Tomblin Band, Austin Lounge Lizards, Trout Fishing in America , among dozens more.

The Festival’s corporate sponsors for this 35th season including media sponsor TEXAS MONTHLY magazine and Kerrville ’s YO Ranch Resort Hotel, and 5-Star Wireless, and Grassy Hill.org.  Their generous support allows the Festival to continue with its reasonable ticket prices ranging from $15 to $30 per day with free camping on site included with the purchase of tickets for three or more consecutive days.

The family audiences at this outdoor music festival are treated to 60 arts and crafts booths, food and beverage service in both the theater and in the campgrounds, vintage private label wines from Texas, and, for those interested in developing their teaching, songwriting, harmonica, or guitar-playing skills there are workshops, seminars, and the 5th Annual Professional Development Program for Teachers providing in-service training for music educators pre-school to high school.
