a novelist and community activist; she studied
language and international politics at Middlebury
and traveled to Europe, Latin America, and the
Middle East. Hers is the voice of the inquisitive
citizen, tracing and retracing the planet, reaching
out to the "folk" of the world and
attempting to confront humanity's big questions.
