Emerging
from the foothills of the Texas Hill Country is the
South Austin Jug Band. This accomplished group Texas
Monthly called "young traditionalists"
plays string band music that owes as much to Bill
Monroe as it does to Bob Wills. When the five
twenty-something’s got together in September of
2000, they decided to form a group that could
capture all of the energy of a rock and roll band,
but without drums or amplifiers. What started as an
impromptu jam session has slowly turned into an all-
out barnburner. The result is an infectious blend of
old-timey bluegrass, western swing, folk, and
country music.
