They're Back..................

During the seventies, the Houston-based group Wheatfield had a large and faithful following throughout the Lone Star State. Wheatfield also toured extensively, playing college campuses across the US and many legendary music venues such as The Troubadour, Armadillo World Headquarters, The Electric Ballroom, Liberty Hall and The Kerrville Folk Festival.  Wheatfield was featured during the first season of the renowned television series Austin City Limits. In his forward to the book entitled, “Austin City Limits-25 Years Of American Music”, Lyle Lovett mentioned that watching Wheatfield on Austin City Limits got him hooked on the show. Wheatfield went on to compose and perform an original three-act ballet called Caliban and performed it with the Houston, Dallas and Chicago Ballet Companies. Wheatfield changed their name to St. Elmo’s Fire and were courted by a number of major labels but sadly; they broke up before releasing a record.

Fast forward to 2008. Ezra and Keith have been known as Trout Fishing In America ever since St. Elmo’s Fire disbanded, Craig has released albums and toured full-time with bands too numerous to name here and after taking some time off to raise a family, Connie has begun to record and tour again. In 2004, Wheatfield had a “one-time” reunion in Houston promoting their much-anticipated, previously unreleased album that was recorded in the 70’s. They had so much fun performing at that show, they decided to play together as often as possible and now perform several times a year… whenever the stars align themselves. To top things off, the band has begun writing together and Wheatfield is currently promoting the 2008 release of their CD, “Second Chances”.
