Michael Rubin has been playing and teaching harmonica for over twenty years. He was the harmonica player in the Tony Nominated Broadway show "The Civil War" and has made a home in Austin for the last 17 years, playing with many of the town's local luminaries. Fully Kerrverted, Michael has backed up many main stage performers including Ruthie Foster and Billy Jonas.

 

MIchael also has a reputation as one of the best teachers of the instrument. He teaches privately, but also has taught for the University of Texas' Informal Classes, and at national harmonica conventions such as The Society for the Preservation and Advancement of the Harmonica, Jason Ricci's Rocking in the Rockies and Jon Gindick's Harmonica Jam Camp.

 

Michael is currently playing with Kalu James, The McMercy Family Band and Sick's Pack. He has a CD available, Call of my Harp, an instruction book, Meat and Potatoes Harmonica and is working on a DVD.
