VOLUNTEERING
FOR THE FESTIVALS
Our
Festival volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization.
Were it not for the hard work and dedication of our volunteers,
the Kerrville Folk and the Kerrville Wine and Music Festivals
would not be possible.
There
are many opportunities for volunteer work before, during
and after each of our festivals. There are crews for festival
security, parking, traffic control, hospitality, beverage
sales, tickets, sanitation, recycling, maintenance, clean-up,
transportation, kitchen, office, staff central, etc.
There
are only a limited number of volunteer positions available
for each Festival. Many of these crews fill up fairly early
in the year or have a relatively permanent staff. So even
if you are invited to be a festival volunteer, you might
not be on your first choice of crew. One of the best ways
to increase your chances of landing one these highly sought
after volunteer positions is to come out for work weekends
and helping us with pre-festival construction, preparation
and clean-up projects. You can check the Volunteer Staff
website at www.KerrStaff.com
for work weekend schedules.
What
we are looking for in volunteers are hard working, self
motivated individuals who truly care about the Festivals
and the QV Ranch. We’ve created something quite unique
and special here and really want people who want to become
part of the Kerrville Festival community and that are willing
to work hard to preserve it. Please don’t volunteer
just as a way to get into the festival for free!
Also,
please don’t simply show up at the festival gate and
expect to be put on a crew. Just showing up won’t
guarantee you a spot on the volunteer staff. If you do this,
chances are there won’t be any positions available
and you will be stuck. To be on the safe side, you should
probably bring enough money for a ticket.
In
exchange for your volunteer services you get: Admittance
to the Festival and two meals a day for the days you are
working; A guest at half price; Festival Staff t-shirt;
beverages; free camping in the staff area; and most importantly,
a ton of new friends!
If
you wish to inquire about festival volunteer opportunities,
you will need to visit the Volunteer Staff website at www.KerrStaff.com
and fill out an on-line application. Should positions be
available for the upcoming festival, one of the volunteer
staff coordinators, Sue Medley or Joe Montgomery will contact
you. If you have questions about volunteering, email Sue
at StaffCentral@KerrStaff.com.
